For more than 10 years, Joel has sponsored scholarships for his alma maters, Hastings Senior High School and the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business. As a recipient of a high school scholarship, Joel wanted to give back so other students could further their educational opportunities. Each year, two students from Hastings High School receive a scholarship from Joel to support their continuing education. Joel stays personally involved with the program and enjoys meeting the students who receive his scholarship.

Joel has also set up an endowment for the university scholarship and continues to add to the fund in hopes that one day, the endowment will be able to support at least two students’ entire educational journeys.
